About My Role:
As a Security Officer stationed at the Lansing Center, I was responsible for ensuring the safety and security of both performers and patrons during events. My duties included conducting foot patrols of the venue, overseeing access control by checking IDs and screening bags, and performing pat-downs to confiscate contraband. I monitored the event for any suspicious activities or individuals, ensuring that restricted areas were off-limits to unauthorized persons. Additionally, I played a key role in traffic management and crowd control, particularly in stage and barricade areas, all while maintaining a professional and responsive presence in line with client and company policies.
Duties:
- Conduct foot patrols of assigned areas to monitor and ensure security.
- Check IDs and perform security screenings (e.g., bag searches, patron pat-downs) to prevent contraband from entering the venue.
- Monitor and restrict access to authorized personnel only, ensuring restricted areas remain secure.
- Detect and report suspicious activities, individuals, or packages.
- Direct and manage traffic flow, ensuring safety and minimizing disruptions.
- Assist in crowd control, particularly near stage and barricade areas, to maintain order.
- Enforce venue policies and procedures to ensure a safe environment for all.
- Respond to emergencies, providing first aid and CPR as needed.
- Communicate effectively with client staff and management to address security concerns.
- Maintain a professional, alert, and visible presence throughout the event.
- Assist with other event-specific security tasks as assigned by supervisors.
