About the Company

MSU IT provides the primary leadership for strategic, financial, and policy initiatives affecting IT throughout MSU. As a partner with the MSU community to make collaborative decisions about technology, MSU IT is responsible for technology planning, security frameworks, and enterprise systems architecture across the university. The mission of MSU IT is to enable the University’s excellence in education, research, and outreach through the delivery of world-class information technology solutions and resources. Educational Technology (formerly Teaching and Learning Technology) enhances teaching and learning through technology. They design, install, and support classroom technology systems, provide instructional design and instructional technology support to educators and students, and promote accessible educational opportunities. They also provide application administration for university-wide teaching and learning applications and services, as well as providing exam sheet scanning and scoring.

About My Role:

My responsibilities included optimizing educational content to ensure it was accessible, equitable, and universally designed for all students.

Highlights:

  • Worked on a team of instructors, instructional designers, web developers, and assistive technology specialists to conduct accessibility audits to ensure university online course content (documents, text, photos, illustrations, audio/visual components, etc.) complies with WCAG 2.0 Web Accessibility Standards. 
  • Strategically involved in the refinement of employee workflow process using Trello and Google Drive, resulting in a 20% overall increase in studio productivity. 
  • Recognized as a leader and asked to give a joint instructional presentation on the benefits of managing accessibility in online course environments at the 2015 MSU Making Learning Accessible Conference.
