About My Role:
During my time as a Universal Design Student Assistant, my focus was on supporting the University’s inclusive learning goals through the implementation and improvement of digital learning technologies and strategies. My responsibilities included optimizing educational content to ensure it was accessible, equitable, and universally designed for all students.
Highlights:
- Worked on a team of instructors, instructional designers, web developers, and assistive technology specialists to conduct accessibility audits to ensure university online course content (documents, text, photos, illustrations, audio/visual components, etc.) complies with WCAG 2.0 Web Accessibility Standards.
- Strategically involved in the refinement of employee workflow process using Trello and Google Drive, resulting in a 20% overall increase in studio productivity.
- Recognized as a leader and asked to give a joint instructional presentation on the benefits of managing accessibility in online course environments at the 2015 MSU Making Learning Accessible Conference.
