Project Brief: For this project, NextEnergy and the Detroit Smart Parking Lab team partnered with the marketing and communications team at Public Sector Consultants to redesign their website. The website design was created by Jill Zelenski, Senior Designer. Once approved by the client, the website was developed using the WordPress CMS by Desiree’ Slaughter, Content Marketer.

Personal Summary

While working as the Communications & Special Projects intern with the Greater Lansing Area Clean Cities Coalition in 2016, I was tasked with re-branding the organization’s online presence. The resulting 15-page website was made in WordPress using the Divi theme from Elegant Themes. The project included website + blog design and social media branding.

I recently started at Public Sector Consultants as a Content Marketer, focusing on digital marketing and WordPress website development in September 2022. This being one of the first projects that I was assigned was a nice full circle moment since I created the previous design years ago.

As the developer on this team, I was excited to use the new features of the Divi theme to bring the new design to life online. The resulting front-end development of the 6-page design consisted of 12 Divi page layouts used for 12 published pages, blog posts, events posts, projects posts, archive pages, and admin pages. In addition to the main pages, the website features include a blog, portfolio, events calendar, forms, and more!

For the back-end development, I created custom dashboard widgets with help links for quick access by the client and customized the WordPress admin dashboard to remove areas that the client couldn’t update without developer assistance. For the help links, I created website documentation and did a guided video training on how to manage the website for the client.
