As part of my Minor in Leadership in Integrated Learning through the Liberty Hyde Bailey Scholars Program at Michigan State University, I’ve been asked to create a learning vision statement. This statement reflects my academic, personal, and professional learning interests and goals while outlining my plans to contribute to the community by sharing my unique skills and experiences.
The Bailey Scholars Program encourages deep self-reflection, prompting me to explore key questions: Who am I? What do I value? How do I learn? And how do these elements connect to my life and aspirations? By addressing these questions, my learning vision statement aims to provide insight into my journey of growth and development, highlighting the way my experiences, values, and learning style shape my path forward.
When writing my learning vision statement, I started out with a long-form piece and scaled it back to 150 words for my senior portfolio. In this post, I will share a long-form version of my learning vision statement to give more insight into my journey and goals.
Creative Professional specializing in branding, web design, and content marketing. Certified Techie. Digital Creator who educates and inspires others by sharing my experiences.
8 years of college education, 17 years of professional experience, 5 years of freelancing, independent learning, tight deadlines, and countless hours have shaped me into the creative professional I am today.
As a creative professional passionate about branding, web design, and content marketing, I see learning as an ongoing journey deeply tied to my values of curiosity, creativity, and authenticity. My identity as a multi-talented individual who thrives on exploration and innovation is reflected in my diverse experiences, from self-teaching design techniques to pursuing higher education in Media Arts & Technology. Returning to Michigan State University to complete my Bachelor’s degree in Information Science after nearly a decade exemplifies my resilience and determination to reclaim my path. This decision stems from a desire to honor the potential I have always recognized within myself and align my career aspirations with my entrepreneurial dreams.
I value education as a powerful tool for transformation, not only for myself but also for others. My entrepreneurial spirit and desire to inspire others are rooted in my belief that we each have the capacity to make a meaningful impact through our gifts and talents. This belief led me to pursue a Minor in Entrepreneurship & Innovation through The Eli Broad College of Business, as it will equip me with the knowledge and skills to approach challenges with an innovative mindset and to see opportunities for growth in every endeavor. I aim to foster innovation and creativity by building a personal brand that positions me as a digital creator, thought leader, and educator in my field.
Every day, I wake up with the drive to learn, grow as a person, build wealth, make a positive impact on the world, and inspire others in business and life! My mission is “…to make a positive impact on the world by educating and inspiring all those within my reach by sharing my experiences.”
My learning style, characterized by active experimentation and concrete experiences, reflects my action-oriented approach to problem-solving and collaboration. I thrive in environments that allow me to apply ideas practically, adapt to new circumstances, and work with others to bring creative visions to life. This aligns seamlessly with the Bailey Scholars Program’s mission of designing individualized learning journeys and building whole-person development.
Through the Bailey Scholars Program, I am committed to contributing my unique perspective, skills, and experiences to the community while learning from others. My ultimate goal is to merge my technical expertise and entrepreneurial ambitions to uplift others, create impactful solutions, and inspire the next generation of creators. Whether through mentoring, sharing my journey, or creating digital content, I aspire to be a catalyst for growth, innovation, and empowerment. To achieve this goal, I’m returning to school to hone my craft by finishing my program and helping others with what I learn by creating and sharing content through my blogs and social media accounts.
Upon graduation, I plan to secure full-time employment in a dynamic, creative field while simultaneously nurturing my entrepreneurial endeavors to build a thriving business and a lasting impact. This vision connects my academic and personal pursuits and drives my professional aspirations to build a fulfilling and impactful career.
