About the Program
Designed to provide training and deliver foundational curriculum for entry-level to middle-skilled Information Technology positions. This 15-week training pathway offers training related to Information Technology Fundamentals, Small Office & Home Office Networking, Server Technology Basics, and Python Programming.
The Curriculum
Core 1 and Core 2
This 10-week, 300-hour course is designed to provide technical skills necessary to become a CompTIA A+ certified IT professional. Beginning with an introduction to computer basics, this course will take students through the more complex issues involved in configuring, troubleshooting, and supporting software, operating systems, workstations, laptops, and mobile devices. An introduction to networks and security is included in the training as well as practical real-world type projects to strengthen the soft skills and customer service skills required to work in the IT field. Financial Literacy training is also included in this module. Students are prepared for industry certifications including the CompTIA A+, Certified Business Professional: Customer Service
The career placement focus areas for these modules include Help Desk Technicians, Service Desk Analysts, Desktop Support Technicians, Computer Support Specialists, Technical Support Specialists. Entry-level wages begin at $15-$17 hourly.
Server Tech Fundamentals
This 5-week, 150-hour course is designed to deliver the technical skills necessary to configure or support Windows computers, devices, users, and associated network and security resources on enterprise server-based and cloud-based environments. This path dives into the skills needed to deploy Windows, manage devices and data; configure connectivity; and maintain Windows operating systems as part of a Microsoft 365 setting. Students are prepared for industry certifications including the Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate. The career placement focus areas for this module include Windows Desktop Administrator, Junior System Administrator, Desktop Technician. Entry-level wages begin at $18 hourly.
Programming Essentials in Python
This 5-week/150-hour, Cisco Networking Academy course, covers all the basics of programming in Python, as well as general computer programming concepts and techniques. Additionally, the course familiarizes the student with the object-oriented approach providing a pragmatic and hands-on introduction to the Python programming language, with a focus on practical applications and projects, rather than theoretical topics. Students will design and build software to solve problems from various disciplines each week using Python. As the course progresses, students will learn to work with packages, data structures, object-oriented programming, and tools for data science and cybersecurity. This course prepares student for an industry recognized programming certification. Students are prepared for industry certifications the PCEP: Python Certified Entry-Level Programmer. The career placement focus areas for this module include Junior Python Developer, Software Developer. Entry-level wages begin at $28.50 hourly or $58,640 annually.
